The Three Phases of Meditation

In the last article, we asked the question “What is meditation, really?” Today, I’ve created a video that shows you exactly how you can accelerate your own meditation, and gain all the benefits of a deep meditative state, immediately.

Don’t make the mistake of thinking I’m hyping this up. I recommend grabbing a pen and some paper, hitting the “full-screen” button, and learning all about how you can claim all the benefits of meditation without learning a technique.

Meditation isn’t just about sitting quietly and relaxing. We meditate to improve our waking lives.

In this video you will learn:

  1. What happens in the three phases of meditation.
  2. How to generate deep, meditative brainwave states.
  3. How to spend more time in the beneficial, awakened states.
  4. The brain states for manifesting what you want in the world, and creating life as you would prefer it.
  5. How your unconscious thoughts and emotions get in the way of you manifesting what you want.
  6. How to take back control of your life, heal your past, and create your dream life.
  7. The secret of Transformational Realization.

Watch the video before reading on. Seriously. Lock the doors, and watch this video in its entirety now 🙂

The Three Phases of Meditation

  1. Technique
  2. Meditative state
  3. Expanding conscious awareness

Number 1. (technique) can take people up to 20 years to master before being able to actually get into no.2 (the meditative state). And forget about no. 3, until you have spent a lot of time in the state.

The Accelerated Meditation cuts out phase one. Instead of you mastering a technique, the AM uses technology to entrain your brain into the meditative state immediately, opening up all the possibilities of no. 3 (expanding conscious awareness) to you.

The Brainwave States

  1. Beta (regular waking state / fight or flight state)
  2. Alpha (traditional meditative state / open-focus Accelerated Meditation waking state)
  3. Theta (REM sleep / Accelerated Meditation state)
  4. Delta (deep, dreamless sleep / Accelerated Meditation state)

Thanks for this, Jim. You’re very compassionate and empathetic and explain beautifully the benefits of various levels of meditation. I don’t have the money for your program, but I’m enjoying all the freebies you have to offer, and I thank you for your generosity of time and wisdom. 🙂

    Hi Jim,

It’s great to see how you interact with people. I’ve been having questions about meditation, but till now couldn’t find anyone with a clear view on the subject. I have quite an explosive ‘monkeymind’. When I’m not writing ( I havent for about a year, keeps my thinking precise), I tend to spend hours checking my email countless times and wandering off again and again and again. Quite maddening. Also the withdrawal effect of caffein is creating some sort of block, or more like a pressure where my pineal gland is situated. Do you drink coffee? Does it matter? I am also in constant inner dialogue with people. Anyone recognize this? I really want to grab hold of my mind, because alot of what i want is unfolding, but I occasionally get swept by a negative run of thoughts that puts me back considerably. How long before you get passed the phase where meditation just seems like a stop and go. I am convinced and will dedicate myself to this. It feels like I’ve found myself a teacher! Thanks for that!

    Hi Jim,
I very much liked your explanation about the brain state. But the so called mind is not the brain. As we use eye to see the world the mind evolved to use the brain to reflect the universe. Beta waves give false picture of the Universe as Diverse distorted by limited human intelligence which can focus at a time on some narrow piece of Universe necessary for survival e.g. a pursuing tiger or an angry boss. The reflection of that small piece is false because the survival centered thought pulls it off the Totality Of the Universe. The meditative state is the state without ANY Thoughts. Brain evolved for survival of the human organism. Is the meditative state part of evolutionary path and hence natural or it is a projection of of mind ? To me “God” ,”heaven”, a persons called “Jim”,”Vasant” “Einstein” his equation “E=MC square”, ” Meditation techniques” all are projections of mind. Is Meditative State in the same category of projection of mind? Or is it natural necessary for some other purpose of Evolution and ,hence, needs another kind of Mind? An Empty Mind.

      Hi Vasant,

You are right — the mind is not the brain. And all the things you list are, of course, mental projections.

But the Human experience is ‘physiological’ in nature and therefore fundamentally connected with brain.

Mind is an emergent property of a multitude of causes, some of which are biological. Beyond mind is infinite pure consciousness. In our context, mastery of mind is the paramount aim, the liberation from maya, and the freedom to operate it as we wish.

You know, I’ve always wondered if the brain is nothing more than a sophisticated ‘key’ that connects our physical experience with the divinity of the infinite field, our true energetic selves. But that changes the nature of experience from a Human one, to something else entirely, and is beyond our concern (at least while we inhabit this planet anyway).

Absolutely fascinating to ponder anyway. And indescribable to experience the no-mind state of bliss 🙂

Jim! This is great, thank you for this video and information. But I really need your help. I have troubles motivating my self, being in that state of mind, trying to be the person I wanna be but nothing is working for me. Can you help me out? I’m always finding my self jumping back into old habits and get distracted. I’m in the process of reading your e book you sent me and now I might challenge my self and use this video!

Hope you can help me out!

    • Jim Apr 5, 2013 @ 22:11

      Hey Matt, welcome.

Motivation has a lot to do with “what moves you.” So, to be motivated means you have to take some action. How hard is it to get up and get yourself a drink when you’re thirsty? Easy, right. There’s a powerful biological indicator that motivates you to take action. Thirst! Act. Quench.

We can all generate our own triggers to arouse motivation for higher level stuff. Goal-achievement, success, etc. And that begins in the mind and expands out into the world. Mind → body → reality.

To master your external reality, you have to first master your inner reality: the mind. And that takes discipline.

The best way to do that? Meditation.

And the best way to do that? Use the AM 🙂 I use it every day for recharging, creative inspiration, connection with source, and awakening.

Thank you for the video and the vision. Although I’m not what you could classify “depressed” I have hit a wall. What I seek more than anything is to control my thoughts, mind & more importantly my emotions. I am very inspired by your information and cannot wait to put it into action by setting some realistic and not so realistic goals. I’ve already started meditating with your audio and will keep you updated.

    Wishing you well

    Olga

    • Jim Jan 7, 2013 @ 22:44

      Hey Olga,

fantastic to have you in the group! That is our aim with the Accelerated Meditation: Control and clarity of mind, body and emotions. Being able to set your own path, and receive creative guidance from within is the ‘secret sauce’ to life.

Remember too, if you need anything or have any questions, I’m just an email away 🙂

  • Andrew Jun 15, 2012 @ 13:10

Jim, this is great. Thank you for such a thorough and thoughtful video. I’m blown away.

I’m looking forward to using the Accelerated Meditation too!

    Andrew 🙂

    • Jim Jun 17, 2012 @ 23:37

You’re very welcome 🙂 It will be great to have you in the group.

  • Yavor Kirov Jun 14, 2012 @ 17:34

I find it reaaaaaly strange that you are not saying a word about Jose Silva, who is the actual person who invented this whole thing about brain waves and how to get into state… What is the reason for that? I mean.. people might be curious.. and this is really old content… :/

    • Jim Jun 14, 2012 @ 18:18

      Hi Yavor,

Although Jose Silva did teach people about getting into an alpha state (which is awesome), brainwaves were in fact discovered by German neurologist Hans Berger around 1908.

Just because we work from old discoveries, doesn’t mean we should abandon facts. If they work, we use them!

Also, if you watch the video you will find out how to go much deeper than just alpha, experiencing both waking theta and delta for profound states of meditation.

  • Gabi Jun 13, 2012 @ 22:40

    Jim:

I enjoyed the explanation on the different states of meditation and how if one is in the alpha state one can better control one’s attention. I agree wholeheartedly that by controlling one’s attention one then can guide or better yet steer one’s thoughts into more positive zones. I am eager to do accelerated meditation!

    • Jim Jun 13, 2012 @ 22:45

Fantastic, Gabi. It will be great to have you on board 🙂

I will be doing a video soon just for those who are using the Accelerated Meditation, that goes into what starts to happen in your life.

      Exciting times people!

  • Shilpan Jun 13, 2012 @ 9:41

    Jim,

You have knack to teach meditation in its simplest form to an average westerner. I think this is your passion. I can see you teaching yoga and meditation. I know another blogger friend of mine successfully doing this. Keep up the great work my friend. We need many more souls like yours in this world.

    • Jim Jun 13, 2012 @ 14:05

Thank you Shilpan, it is very much a passion of mine. Remembering the depths of my own depression, and how truly bad it felt, gives me enthusiasm to help others find their own inner happiness, and source of strength and creative power.

If I can do it, anyone can do it!

Thanks again, your support means a lot to me.
