If you had your own personal oracle which you could ask any question and get an accurate answer with concrete plans, would you use it? Of course you would! Well, areyou using it? You do have an oracle, and it is called your intuition.
Intuitive inspiration is what has guided countless successful people to the realization of their goals. Inventors and artists such as Thomas Edison and Leonardo Da Vinci developed techniques to call upon their genius minds to create completely new ideas and turn them into reality. While we might not all be geniuses like them, we each possess within us the key to what Napoleon Hill called Infinite Intelligence, the source of all ideas, the universal mind, or quantum field.
Where to Begin
Several months after I began meditating, I experienced a huge shift and opening of my consciousness. I became consciously aware of the internal representations of my mind, moment by moment. Internal representations are the images, the sounds, the feelings and dialogue (as well as smells and taste) that we call “thoughts.” When you are aware of the thoughts that create your experience of living, you gain a huge amount of power over your own life. And even though this opening changed my life, there was something deeper that was waiting to reveal itself…
Perception of the Inner Knowing
While I was enjoying my new power of perceiving my thoughts, and experiencing the benefits of that, there was another layer that slowly opened up to me. When I stilled my mind in meditation, I began to perceive what felt like an inner knowing, the impulse before a thought. I had become directly aware of my intuition. It is the cause of the image, the sound, or the feeling you imagine with your thinking mind. I recognized this from reading about my favorite artists, and began to experiment with it.
Engaging your Own Intuition
One of the most powerful things you can do after setting a goal is to ask yourself what I call the magic question, “how can I achieve __X___?” I.e. “How can I make an extra $2500 this month for that new MacBook Pro?” As a completely random example
The power comes in when you take this question into meditation. As you learned how to meditate, and clear your mind, you can now introduce your question into stillness, then listen for the answer.
Depending on where you are at with your meditation, you might have to practice being still and listening. But the very act of sitting still and just listening is very beneficial. Once you are comfortable with your meditation technique you can apply this exercise to engage your intuition.
You’ll need a voice recorder for this, so either borrow one or set your mobile phone to record your voice. Enter your meditative state, and after a few minutes of relaxation and stillness, bring your question to mind and simply listen for the response.
Describe out loud what enters your mind, so it’s recorded on your device. Speak as rapidly as you can and describe what you see, hear and feel in as much detail as you can. When you get an answer, gently open your eyes and write down your understanding of that answer.
Play back the recording and note anything relevant. You will probably want to go through this exercise once a day for a few days at least, to get comfortable with this method of communication with Infinite Intelligence. Your intuition will come through stronger and stronger the more you listen to it and act on its messages.
The power is yours. The toughest thing is deciding what questions to ask. So, how are you going to use your intuition to create the life you want?
